Greg Chappell quits as India coach

Greg Chappell has finally said goodbye to Team India and Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) citing family and personal reasons. After a dismal performance in the World Cup, this was pretty much expected but the manner in which this has taken place, few more questions need to be answered.

Under his reign, India won the historic test series in West Indies and also set the record-breaking run of India winning 17 ODIs while chasing the target but in years to come he will be better known in Indian cricket for his unconventional training methodology and feud with former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly.

Chappell has always given preference to youngsters like Raina and Gambhir instead of Ganguly and Kumble. Though, this is not a bad thing to blood youngsters in the team but Indian domestic circuit does not allow players enough testing condition. Pitches are as flat as dodo and one can’t compare international bowlers with domestic ones. And that is where Chappell gone wrong, supporting players that are not ready for international stage.
